2nd Macau A-Ma Cultural & Tourism Festival

The tallest white marble statue ever of the Goddess A-Ma (19.99 metres high) stands atop Coloane Alto, the highest point in Macau. On October 22 morning, the Opening Ceremony and Ritual of the Second Macau A-ma Cultural and Tourism Festival will be officially inaugurated at the A-ma Cultural Village near the Statue. Guests will be invited for the Opening Ceremony. This year there will also be a parade of a golden statue of A-Ma from Fujian as part of the Second Macau A-Ma Cultural & Tourism Festival. Celebrations will start at 8:30 a.m. on October 22. The ritual ceremony, the tripod placing ceremony will be followed by a 45-minute cultural performance within the nearby Tin Hau Palace by performers from Fuijian (invitation only).

A cultural performance will be held in Iao Hon Park in Macau on the evenings of October 22 and 23 at 8:00 p.m. A golden statue of A-Ma will be placed in Iao Hon Park for public worship from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Oct 23. At 6:00 p.m., the procession starts through the streets of Macau, ending some three hours later at the A-Ma Temple. A fireworks display will take place on the waterfront opposite the Macau Tower at 9:00 p.m.on October 22. A free shuttle bus has been introduced from the base of Coloane Alto to the A-Ma Cultural Village. The buses leave from the bus stop at Estrada de Seac Pai Van (near the petrol station). To get there visitors can take buses No.21, 21A, 25, 26, 26A to Estrada de Seac Pai Van bus stop and walk two minutes to the huge entrance archway leading to the A-Ma Cultural Village. The service runs every half hour from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.
