Home at New Orleans

House at Garden District

Welcome to New Orleans! The neighborhoods in New Orleans are as varied as any place else in the United States. In fact, many visitors feel that New Orleans has a more European than American flavor. Some of your options are as follows:

Uptown - Near Loyola, Tulane and Xavier Universities; near Audubon Park. Located in Audubon Park is the award winning New Orleans Zoo. The park is a great place to roller blade, jog, walk, play golf or tennis, or just relax. Many of the homes in the Uptown area are 100 years old or more, have high ceilings, hardwood floors, and abundant old world charm. The streetcar runs along St. Charles Ave. and part of S. Carrollton Ave. linking Uptown to Canal St. downtown.

Garden District - Closer to downtown than Uptown. This area contains grand mansions as well as smaller cottages. It was also recently named one of the hippest places to live in the United States.

Mid City - Located close to Delgado Community College and City Park, which has some of the finest public golf courses in the city. Many of the homes here are Victorian shotguns as well as other older styles. This area, as well as Uptown and Metairie, hosts many Mardi Gras parades.

Lakefront - This area offers contemporary brick ranch style homes near Lake Ponchartrain. The older area of Lakeview has smaller older homes, but not as old as Uptown, the Garden District or Mid City. The lakefront is approximately a 15 minute commute from the CBD (Central Business District). University of New Orleans is located in the lakefront area, as well as many good public schools.
