New York, New York (March 12) - The tree planting ceremony celebrating 5000 years of Chinese civilization to be held on April 5 in Xian, China, sets forth as the first event in the cultural series entitled "Journey Into Chinese Centuries, Tree Ceremony to Pay Tribute to Chinese ancestors". The series is designed to facilitate better understanding of China and preserve many of its time-honored traditions.

(CCII), jointly with its co-organizer, Shanxi Association For Friendship with Chinese Overseas (SAFFWCO) in China, offers all Chinese living overseas, as well as westerners, an exclusive opportunity to extend an appreciative salute to Huangdi, the father of Chinese civilization, by planting cypress trees cherished as the symbol for life, good fortune and living witness of the China's growth.

Huangdi is respectfully called the "First Ancestor" in China who inspired the creation of Chinese language, medicine, arithmetic, and compass cartography with its scientific principle still widely used today.

To honor the contribution of the legendary Huangdi to the Chinese civilizations, selected young cypress trees will be planted after a grand memorial ceremony at the well preserved and impressive Huangdi Temple located on the top of Qiaoshan Mountain just two hours away from Xian, the cultural and commercial hub of ancient China (Tang Dynasty). The Huangdi Temple was listed as the National treasure in 1962 by the Chinese Government and the Huangdi Tomb as the "The First Tomb on Earth". In recent years, thousands of Chinese everywhere have attended memorial ceremonies and given their support to trees living at the Huangdi Temple. The building of a highway to Qiaoshan will channel even more visitors today, according to Li Ri Qiang, principle of the Huangdi Temple.
"Journey Into Chinese Centuries, Tree Ceremony to Pay Tribute to Chinese Ancestors" is an important environmental protection effort to make China green. However, the organizers are putting more emphasis on the cultural value of the event. It invites all people especially overseas Chinese to take on this tree planting opportunity to discover the origin of one's cultural identity.

"Many Chinese living abroad, especially those senior Chinese who left China long time ago or the younger generation who were born in the US, feel the need to be connected with their own culture. We hope the 888 cypress, blessed by the spirit of Huangdi, will be a source of inspiration and good luck," said Dr.Richard Fang, president of CCII.

"Journey Into Chinese Centuries, is a five day trip to China from Beijing to Xian. In addition to the tree planting ceremony, and paying tribute to Chinese ancestors, it will feature unique cultural experience such as Tang Dynasty Dance and Music, Kite Flying, the world famous Qin Terra-cotta Warriors.
